Let's begin this blog post with a kawaii kitten stretching early in the morning. Perhaps even...... A.M.?
It was on a MLK day with me having another recluse crisis. Amidst that, I have quickly begin my routine with throwing my house's trash and walking my dog around the apartment.
Well you see, I have suddenly wanted to snatch up an opportunity to win a bet and try to socialize with folks around my age. So I decided to why not stealthily and subtly play with them? Yes you know who you are.
I'm per se not an athletic person nor the type to play anymore since my arrival in United States. Compare me to my carefree nature back in my home country where I spent 8 years of my human life trying to be friending people. Let's say my efforts were in vain since most people forgot my existence in Philippines which made me isolate myself in US.
But since I really wanted to play and see the sunlight, I kind of just slip in their game play and decided to play something along the lines of hide and go seek.
Damn.
I felt like I had a PE class in my apartment since the game apparently was to chase and find the lucky churros that didn't IT first. (As you may have guessed, a small boy tagged me. Hey, just a solitary blogger things.)
When we all calmed down and sat down to an area around the pool, at some point, I mentioned my mandatory tutoring (I kid you not this rigorous regime of learning is tiring sometimes) and one of them who's name was Pablo something asked me if I had my tutoring that day. He inquired on what does PM means (not quite sure what he meant but this is the amusing part) and this is where I will get educational for the sake of my blog.
First of all, AM and PM are abbreviations for latin words. Since Latin words are pretty much a dead language and we don't use it, we have some prefixes, suffixes and root words that connects with the dead language. Some words originated from Latin like igneous, ingenious, exuberant and soliloquy.
Okay here are the abbreviation meanings:
AM= Ante Meridiem
PM= Post Meridiem
Meridiem means 'midday' if translated. Ante means 'before' in modern day english. So yes, it technically means that AM is before noon and PM is afternoon.
I did find my research upon the Latin language interesting.
Another inquiry one of the boys in my apartment building questioned is: how much friction between rocks could create a fire? What materials could transfer fire without using any lighter?
Although I do not know their ulterior motive because I am concerned that if I give them any information on setting up fire within friction and cause a havoc in the apartment, I decided to just screw it. Hopefully you guys will not combust your houses.
Back to my point, but here is how to set up a fire with two rocks:
First of all, there are specific types of rocks that could actually create a fire. And you sir that wanted me to smell the goddamn rock is doing it wrong (sorry for foul language but exaggerating here).
You will need to find the great tinder with the stones. An good tinder is from a birch tree. You will need to examine the exterior side of the fungus. Next, is to check the interior side of the fungus. You will probably see a yellowish color in this side. Grab a small knife and rub it on the interior side of the fungus. It'll create a spark and you'll need to leave it for a solid 30 minutes. Next is to find a handstone. You may want to use a pentlandite (a mineral from the Pyrite family.) You will need another handstone preferably quartz rock. You will place the fungus on the rock and rub it with the stone together.
It will create a spark and you should transfer the coal into the tinder with your knife. In the tinder you should have cattail leaves that supports the coal.
Here is an example:
So yeah! I think I made a point across already with your inquiries on MLK day and I dedicate this to the dudes in my apartment complex (Pablo, Santi, Julian, Jahai, Lazaro, Mohammad, Daniella and Chris). If I miss any of you, have these decent photos of me since I'm cool (not).
Chu lovely readers,
Zilee (LAG)
